North Conway (Aug. 28, 2024) — This season, Cranmore Mountain Resort is ramping up their steadfast commitment to providing the best on-mountain conditions for guests and getting them out on the snow as efficiently and quickly as possible.
A major upgrade skiers can expect this year is Cranmore’s snowmaking efforts. First, the mountain’s snowmaking pipe will be expanded to create two separate systems in the snowmaking line which will allow snowmakers to boost and maximize pressure. The end result will be higher quality snow and increased production rates.
Additionally, Cranmore will be adding eight new high production snowmaking guns from HKD which will also expedite the snowmaking process, while increasing snowmaking efficiency. The Resort will also be testing tower guns from Snowgun Technologies, a company owned and operated by the Fairbank Group, further enhancing its snowmaking capabilities.
“We push ourselves each season to find new ways to improve guest experiences,” said General Manager and President Ben Wilcox. “With these snowmaking advancements, we can get everyone out on the snow even faster. That means more time on the mountain, more time to ski and more time to make lifelong memories.”
Cranmore is also introducing new RFID lift ticket cards and Axess gates. Guests can now conveniently pick up their lift tickets at kiosks located at the base of the mountain and proceed direct to lift, without needing to show their tickets. These RFID cards can be easily reloaded online, supporting Cranmore’s sustainability efforts. The new system will also make loading the lift much more convenient for season passholders.
Opening this December is Cranmore’s new, state-of-the-art ski patrol facility. This facility, more than twice the size of its predecessor, is strategically located opposite the base of the Skimobile Express. It will feature a small urgent care room with two emergency treatment beds donated by Memorial Hospital, two oversized treatment recliners, an electric garage door with rollers for smooth trauma sled delivery, enhanced lighting, expanded storage, and electronic sliding doors with an airlock.
The Terrain Park will also be adding two fun new features this season, along with the resort’s newest addition to their fleet of snowcats, the PistenBully 400 ParkPro.
This PistenBully model will help Cranmore stay competitive in its snow surface management by providing unparalleled grooming for our guests. It strikes a perfect balance between force and weight, meaning it fits into an important niche at Cranmore: powerful enough to move snow efficiently, but agile and precise enough to build Terrain-Based Learning and Terrain Park Features. This snowcat promises to open a whole new scope of creativity and efficiency for Cranmore’s terrain.
