Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is an exciting, high-thrill sport, but it comes with inherent risks. Following the Mountain Biker's Responsibility Code and understanding trail signage helps keep you and others safe. It’s best to warm up, start small, and progress gradually.  Begin with easier trails and ride within your ability level. Be sure to check the Bike Trail Report before heading out.

For more information on Mountain Biking at Cranmore, please visit our Bike Park Page.

Weather

Weather is an important factor in the operation of the Mountain Adventure and Bike Park. While heavy rain may result in limited access to certain attractions, the presence of lightning requires a full suspension of operations across the resort.

When lightning is forecasted in the area, resort staff will closely monitor weather conditions. If lightning is detected nearby, a warning horn will sound to indicate a temporary closure of all operations. At that time, Mountain Adventure Park staff will safely close all attractions and lifts and direct guests to the nearest indoor facility.

Guests are asked to remain indoors until conditions are deemed safe. The resort will continue to monitor the weather and will resume operations as soon as it is safe to do so.

Wildlife, Insects & Tick Safety

Our mountain is home to diverse wildlife, including deer and black bears. Bears, especially mothers with cubs, can be highly protective. If you encounter a bear, remain calm, do not approach, and slowly and quietly back away while giving it plenty of space. Please report any bear sightings to mountain staff.

During the summer season, insects such as mosquitoes, black flies, and ticks are common. We strongly recommend using insect repellent during your visit. Ticks can attach when brushing against tall grass or vegetation, so be sure to check yourself thoroughly after your visit and again at the end of the day. Some ticks in the region may transmit disease. Learn more about tick identification here.

Allergies & Personal Medications

Guests with allergies, asthma, or other medical conditions are strongly encouraged to bring all necessary personal medications, including EpiPens, inhalers, and any other prescribed treatments.

Mountain staff are not authorized to administer medications; however, they can aid in the event of an emergency. Guests are responsible for always carrying their medications and for understanding how to properly use them.

Hiking

Summit Hiking Trail
This 15–30-minute loop is located at the summit of Cranmore Mountain Resort and offers a scenic, easy-to-moderate walking experience around the mountaintop area. Guests are advised to wear comfortable athletic footwear and bring water for the hike.

Black Cap Trail (from Cranmore)
Guests may also access the Black Cap Connector Trail from the summit. This hike takes approximately two-hours rounds trip. Please note that this trail is off Cranmore property and is not maintained by Cranmore. Guests enter at their own risk, and Cranmore Patrol does not have access to this area. Last chair down from the summit is 4:30pm (Summer Hours) 3:00pm (Spring & Fall hours), please plan accordingly. We strongly recommend hiking boots, water, snacks, and a small backpack with essential supplies for this hike.

Both trails are located on mountainous terrain and include natural features such as roots, rocks, ledges, and elevation changes. Trails are unpaved dirt paths. Guests should be comfortable walking on uneven surfaces.

Due to safety and privacy concerns, Cranmore Mountain Resort prohibits the operation or use of unmanned aerial systems (drones) on or above Resort property by the general public—including recreational users and hobbyists—without prior written authorization from Cranmore Mountain Resort.

This prohibition includes drones used for filming, videotaping, or media purposes, whether operated within Resort boundaries or launched from private property outside of them.

Please contact the Cranmore Marketing Department with questions or to request prior authorization. Any authorized drone operation must comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, local law enforcement requirements, and Resort-specific policies, which may include certification, training, insurance coverage, indemnification, and liability waivers.
