Cranmore’s Winter & Après Guide to North Conway

Explore the picturesque charm of America's favorite ski town

As North Conway’s mountain, we get the honor of being at the center of the winter buzz. It’s why we are so proud to be the beacon of America’s number one ski town, as awarded by readers of USA Today. (Fun fact: North Conway earned the top spot as Best Ski Town by the publication’s annual 10Best rankings three times in the past 10 years—more than any other ski town).

And the best part? Experiencing North Conway doesn’t just mean fun skiing that you will get with us—it means immersing yourself in everything that makes this mountain town special. From unforgettable days on the slopes to cozy après hangouts and unique off-mountain adventures, North Conway delivers the full winter experience.

Check out the ultimate guide to our mountain town below, including some of our favorite on- and off-slope activities, as well as the local scoop on where to après.

At Cranmore
Let’s start close to home, shall we?

Cranmore delivers a full slate of winter fun directly onsite. Spend the day skiing and riding our progressive trails and glades, testing your skills at our Terrain Park, going on all your favorite rides at the Mountain Adventure Park and having the time of your life at our Tubing Park.

Insider tip: make sure to stop by on Friday, Saturday and Wednesday nights for Arctic Lights Tubing. This glow-filled nighttime tubing experience is the first of its kind in New Hampshire and a must-do activity!

Wrap it all up at Koessler’s Bar, where outdoor fireplaces, local brews and live music make for the perfect end to your day.

And for an extra festive post-skiing enjoyment, make sure to mark your calendars for Cranapalooza! This signature family-friendly après series will return in late December, taking place every Saturday, holiday and daily during vacation weeks. Now held on the Fairbank Lodge Patio, guests can enjoy music and dancing (courtesy of DJ Corey Genest), family games, photo ops, s’mores and appearances from everyone’s favorite penguin, C-more.

Beyond the Slopes
There’s no limit to the winter adventures you can have in North Conway and the surrounding area, including: dog sledding, sleigh rides, fat biking, winter hiking in the White Mountain National Forest and snowshoeing through Whitaker Woods.

Scenic Drives and Small Town Charm

The Kancamagus Highway and Pinkham Notch are breathtaking in winter—snow-capped mountains, frozen rivers and wildlife sightings turn even a simple drive into an adventure. Pair that with North Conway’s quintessential New England charm, and it’s no wonder it was dubbed the ultimate ski town.
