One of the best things about spending your summer at Cranmore is that adventure surrounds our mountain in all directions. Check out our local guide on how you can experience it all this season.
Dive right into summer
After sweating it out at the Bike Park or Mountain Adventure Park, cool off with the various water activities in Mount Washington Valley!
No summer is complete without paying a visit to the Saco River. There are 130 miles to explore, flowing from Saco Lake in Crawford Notch all the way to the Gulf of Maine.
One of our favorite ways to explore the Saco is by renting a canoe or kayak in the area. Or, if you’re not in the mood for arm day on your vacation, you can float the river and have an absolute blast on all the little rapids along the way.
Saco River also offers endless fishing opportunities, and is particularly well-known for fly fishing, with swaths of the river specifically designated as fly fishing-only areas. The river is specifically renowned for fishing brook trout, rainbow trout and brown trout. Insider tip: if you’re looking to catch smallmouth bass, fish downstream of Fryeburg, ME.

Take a hike
There are so many jaw-dropping summits and views right in our backyard, it can be difficult to know where to begin exploring. That’s where we come in! Here are a few of our can’t-miss recs…
For starters, one of the best places to go for a hike is within the Moat Mountain Range, which is known for offering gorgeous, 360-degree views and a slew of trails for hikers of all levels.
You should also make sure to add Cathedral Ledge to your hiking bucket list. At 700 feet tall, Cathedral Ledge offers some of the best views of the Saco River Valley and the White Mountains. Or, if the climb sounds a bit steep, you can get to the top of Cathedral Ledge by driving up the auto road.
Lastly, a short seven-minute drive from Cranmore is Echo Lake State Park. There are plenty of trails surrounding the lake for you to discover, and you can finish your excursion with a dip in the water and a beachside picnic. Insider tip: on your drive over to Echo Lake, keep an eye out for Schartner Farms, where you can pick up fresh strawberries and jam all summer long.

Get to know North Conway
Strolling along Main Street is another staple summer pastime. Make the most of North Conway’s tax-free shopping, local bites and charming storefronts.
One of our favorite ways to take it all is with a bike ride. With our own rental fleet, onsite Bike Park and access to the MWV Rec Path, Cranmore is the ideal location to start your biking adventure—check out our guide to getting around here.
